CPD- UNDERSTANDING DISABILITY IN GARDEN DESIGN

The workshop wasorganised by the wonderful charity Thrive https://www.thrive.org.uk/ in  their office and gardens hid away in Battersea Park. It has been proved time and time again how people will ill health or mental health issues can benefit hugely from being in a garden, whether taking part of its care or simply being there. It was great to meet our fellow attendees, some of them nurses and practitioners, designers, community leaders, gardeners and charity workers. We learned about disability access, universal design, attention restoration theory, the biophilia effect, therapeutic and restorative gardens. We also learned more about the amazing work that Thrive does. A big thank you to Thrive and Damian Newman for a very instructive and inspiring day!
